FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!! The time has come, yep you guessed it, we finally got a sewage treatment plant. Horray!!!!!!! That means more restoom facilites for Teen Quest. Hopefully we can get the funding we need to get the plant put together and running before camp this summer. Keep Praying!!! We have a lot of work to do.

We have just added a few new things to Teen Quest this week we finished the Teen Quest Library which is a very comfortable atomsphere to read or just have some quiet time. It has a couch and love seat and chairs along with a fire place and tons of books.

How exciting to witness the process of finishing Fletcher Hall ! The floor was poured by November 1st and today, the 2nd, the framing is up on the first wall.

Just think... in a few months hundreds of kids will be worshippping the Lord and listening to the Word of God in this room. So many decisions for Christ will be made!

Super Charge and Junior Charge have been going on and we have seen students coming to Christ and lives being changed! Junior Chargers (3rd - 6th grades) are skate boarding, mountain boarding, climbing the rock wall, swimming, jumping on the trampoline, boating and fishing as I write. . . on a rainy day! They are having a blast!

The Summer staff training is now underway till the end of June. About 30 adult and teen staff are now going through a series of classes in leadership and how to courses.

Saturday Teen Quest hosted the 5th Annual Spring Round up at the Ranch in Somerset. There were lots of smiling faces! The event brought in families from the nearby community and friends of the ministry from further out of the area as far as Pittsburgh! Guests participated in activities in the afternoon followed by an evening cookout and a performance by the Teen Quest Ministry team to spread the word of what Teen Quest is up to, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ that fuels the ministry. Thanks to everyone who made the Round Up possible!

Here's what the new street course in the X-Barn looks like! There's a quarter pipe, a 1' low-box, a kicker ramp, and a square rail that stands just over a foot high!! It's a great addition the X-Barn. Last weekend some teens at the Ranch for an X-Day already got to break in the new park. We expect lots of kids to use the new addition at the Round Up this weekend. Things are in full swing now that spring has sprung!! Over the past weeks I’ve spent a lot of time on a project that we’re working on in the X-Barn here at the Ranch. The project is an area where students can do what’s known as “street skating.” That’s were they skateboard on the ground doing “flip tricks”, or on a rail, or a box. We’ve had a half pipe which is known as “vert skating” for the students. It’s been around for a while and gets a lot of use. However, I noticed that many of the skaters like to skate on the ground, and haven’t had much room for that since the floor of the barn is very old and has uneven planks.
Well, a few weeks ago I started visiting local businesses to raise money for our project with the help of Morgan, a volunteer. Shortly after that we purchased some materials at Lowe’s that we’re using to build a floor in the barn made of plywood. Cliff Knepper built a rail for the park out of some old steel rails Lynn had in their back yard. Many people have helped with this project, including Roger Berti, and several of our teens from Vizion. Thanks to everyone who has helped!

Here are some pictures of the addition now. It’s to a point where students last weekend were able to use the area, but it will undergo more work before unveiling it this summer. Part of the plan is to build a “low-box,” a bank near the back wall to ride in on, and a wall to separate the addition from the rock wall area. I also need someone who is skilled in electrical wiring to help install the new lights that were donated for the addition. Please call 814-444-9500 if you’d like to help finish the skatepark project. We confess. . . We have been praying for snow since December!

Good news. . . We are not praying for snow because SnowCamp 2006 has concluded. 1,346 attended and 88 decisions to accept Christ have been recorded up to this moment. Among those who accepted Christ were two guys who came different weeks, but were atheists. They both have accepted Christ!

We are getting ready for spring retreats and summer camping.

Fletcher Hall at the Teen Quest Ranch

Fletcher Hall was enclosed with temporary lighting and heat at 9 pm Friday night, February 19th. At 9:45 pm 300 people gathered for our first rally! Brad Daubenspeck was our guest speaker and when he challenged teens to receive Christ, sixty-six stood to their feet! Buildings are tools God gives us to reach teenagers for Him! Thanks to all our volunteers and friends who have given towards this project!

NEW ADDITION TO FLETCHER HALL

Four years ago Teen Quest bought a 140 acre Ranch in Somerset County to win, train, and build teens and leaders for Christ. Since purchasing the Ranch volunteers have helped us remodel and build.
Soon after we purchased the Ranch we began holding Snow Camps. Today we hold nine weekends with over 1200 students in attendance.

Starting this week Teen Quest is adding a 40 x60 ft addition to our new Fletcher Hall . . . thanks to our Teen Quest donors. The structure will be used to hold worship services, feed students and multi purposes at the Ranch. We really need this building!!

In addition to our board members, volunteers arrived from out of state to help us build the building this week.

Check out our progress on Ranch Developments in our blog site. We hope to put the building under roof by February 17th for our largest Snow Camp weekend ever.

The Teen Quest missionary team is taking off a few days to enjoy Christmas with their families. Next week we are preparing for the largest Snow Camp ever... filling every weekend in January, February and part of March with students from around a six state region of America.

Pray for the success of Snow Camp 2006... safety of the campers, strength of the youth leaders, the wisdom of the Snow Camp speakers, the Word of God impacting the lives of over 1000 teenagers and the continued training of the Snow Camp volunteers.

Teen Quest "Vizion" team in Concert

"Vizion" Teen Quest's teen music drama troupe will be in concert this Sunday night (December 11) at Bethany Baptist Church in the North Hills of Pittsburgh. The program "Break Free" contains 90 minutes of music, drama, and testimony. The program is full of action and has a great spiritual message.

The "Vizion" kids make up the teen leadership team for Teen Quest. Students involved in this youth mission come from three states including Pennsylvania, Maryland and Ohio.

Isn't it wonderful that God is EVERYWHERE?! Over 80 students were at the Teen Quest Ranch this weekend having the time of their lives! Lasting decisions were made as North Park Church senior highers under the direction of Jason Archer dove into God's Word.

While they were at the Ranch, we held our Annual Phonathon at Cornerstone TV. Twenty-eight of us called friends of this ministry, praying with them for their needs and asking them to join us in raising $30,000 this month. We set a goal of $10,000 on Saturday and we reached it ! We raised $10,315 !

Thanks to our friends at Cornerstone TV for allowing us to once again use their facility.

We can continue hosting students like Jason's group and continue reaching out to the world with the gospel message of Jesus Christ!

IT’A HAPPENIN’ AT THE RANCH!

Teens from Pittsburgh, Monroeville, Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland have been playing paintball, riding horses, climbing the rock wall, competing on the Challenge Course, and riding go-carts and mountain boards. Most importantly God is becoming real in their lives and they are returning home with new direction in their lives.

Our Ministry Team teens volunteer at the Ranch each weekend. When activities for our guests aren’t open, they spend time bonding together. . .studying the Word, praying together, talking, and playing games. Here's Drew, Dillon, and Kayla, and Vanessa helping out . Silliness abounds!!

For the next few weeks we have volunteers working on our pole building. When finished we will have a 1200 square foot heated room for youth activities and meetings. These volunteers came just in time in preparation for our Snow Camp kids coming from all over east coast.

What an exciting weekend!

Hey everyone, what an awesome weekend we just had! The Bethel Temple Church of Christ from Baltimore, Maryland came with about 36 people from their youth group for a weekend retreat. They got to experience all of our awesome activities, but mostly, they spent a lot of time with an awesome God. I was blessed by how this group really got into worship and seeking the Lord over the weekend. They spent a lot of time in the Word and that is really what our goal for these groups is. Praise God.

Also, Saturday, our camp was inundated with volunteers. The largest group among them was the Somerset Alliance Church’s Vision local outreach team. About 20 or more volunteers from their team paid for and constructed our first cabin at the Ranch. This was so exciting for us, and we are hoping to recruit more churches who will volunteer to take on this task for about 5 more cabins. The Somerset group also helped to stain our stable, which we are in the process of completing and need more volunteers to help us with. Thank you, Somerset Alliance Vision team.

Among others at the Ranch, I would also like to mention and thank Bob Glovier, my dad, who cut grass Saturday, Dave McKee, a friend of our Director, who helped out with the retreat in the kitchen, doing carpentry work, and even with our Vizion ministry team on Sunday, and John Buntz, who used to trim our campground area several years ago and stopped by Saturday to say hi and give the Somerset Alliance Vision team a hand. Thanks guys.

Sunday was exciting too, as our Vizion team performed their second performance of the year at Pastor Henry Frain’s church, The Carpenter’s Cross. Our teens did an excellent job and really sang and performed with all their hearts as they shared the message of Christ’s love. I had the privilege to give a gospel message and invitation for salvation at the end of the program, as well as an invitation for our audience to break free from sin, as Christ calls us to. One person in the audience responded by making a commitment to the Lord and was counseled by a member of the Vizion team. Thank you to Henry Frain and his church for allowing us to minister there, for feeding us, thanks to our Vizion team for their work in the Lord, and thanks to everyone who is praying for them.

A GREAT WEEKEND

A GREAT WEEKEND
We had a wonderful weekend with a youth group from Baltimore Maryland at the Teen Quest Ranch. They had a wonderful time of worship and activities. God is using Teen Quest to reach many students for Christ each weekend.

MISSION PROJECT
We also had a group of young people from the Somerset Alliance Church come and build our first winterized cabin at the ranch. In just 9 hours the building was under roof. We will be able to house 8 students in the cabin when it is totally finished. We are so thankful for this wonderful mission project and thank the youth group for supplying the materials to build the cabin.

FALL ROUND UP
Next weekend we are holding our Fall Round Up with lots of activities, dinner on the grounds and a short concert by our teen music drama troupe Vizion. In addition to the round up we are having a mission group from Michigan come to finish a cement floor in our pole building. Our goal is to complete and winterize the pole building by Snow Camp.

Somerset Alliance youth to build our first cabin

On Saturday September 24th the youth group of Somerset Alliance Church is coming to the Teen Quest Ranch to build our first cabin. The cabin will hold between 8 and 10 campers and will be located near the lodge. It will be a rustic looking building (fully winterized) with a porch overlooking the lake.

This cabin will be the prototype for future rustic cabins on the ranch. We are challenging other churches to come and build like cabins on the property.

WE WANT TO WELCOME HIGHLAND AND GLENSHAW PRESBYTERIAN YOUTH GROUPS SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 17th. They are spending the day at the Ranch playing paintball, horseback riding, mt boarding, climbing walls, skateboarding, archery and much much more.

JOEL AND MEGAN MOVE TO BALTIMORE

On Friday the entire Teen Quest ministry staff held a going away gathering for Joel and Megan. Joel is taking a new position at the Baltimore zoo as one of the marketing directors starting this month.

Joel grew up with Teen Quest as the son of the exectutive directors. He has worked with his parents as a teenager and for the last three years on full time staff. Joel has led our camp rallies, was in charge of our marketing department, our publications and web site, bookkeeper and much more.

Joel will continually help Teen Quest with the web and publications from his home in Baltimore at the present time.

PREPARING TO REACH TEENS THIS FALL

We have been working hard in preparation for fall weekends ... cleaning carpets, cleaning and organizing the "Welcome Center", painting the climbing wall, organizing the kitchen and finishing the new addition on the stable.

THANK YOU. We want to thank the Ream family, Cliff Knepper and Mr Hosteter for haying the fields and helping us load 1000 bails of hay in the new stable addition. New Welcome Center at the Teen Quest Ranch

Above is the new welcome center at the Teen Quest Ranch. This new building will be used to house our nurses station, ranch registration office, camp store, and information center. We will be dedicating this building to the lord and to His work.

We just finished a summer of camping that is changing the lives of teenagers for ever. Hundreds of students heard the gospel of Christ, were taught how to grow in their faith and were challenged to go to the next spritual level.

We want to thank you for your prayers and gifts helping us reach a generation of students with the Gospel.

August 20-27 Teen Quest will host a booth at the Somerset County Fair in Meyersdale. If you are in the local area please stop at our booth and visit with us. Questions please call 814-444-9500

Saturday October 1 Families are invited to our first fall Round Up at the Teen Quest Ranch. Festivities begin at 1 pm till dark. Families can enjoy hayrides, paintball, horsback riding, rock climbing, fishing, boating and lots more. We will also serve dinner on the grounds.

Joel Glovier is the team leader of our summer mission ministry team. Each week a group of boys stay at the Teen Quest Ranch. They have work projects and prepare for campers as they come to the ranch for activities. Daily they have their quiet time along with weekly Bible Studies. This our first year with this program. We are really excited about how God is using these students. Pray for Joel Glovier and the Crew.

Weekend Summer Camp

Students from Word of Life Church in Stubenville Ohio joined teenagers from all over the region for our first summer weekend camping experience. Joel Glovier, one of our summer staff missionaries spoke. Students enjoyed all the activities from paintball to horseback riding. They had a wonderful time.

Board Meeting Held July 6th, 2005

OFFICIAL QUARTELY BOARD MEETING HELD AT TEEN QUEST JULY 6 - AT NOON

The official board of Teen Quest met Wed July 6th at the Teen Quest Ranch. We had a great time of discussion and voted on several matters.
· Reports were given about the growth of the camping program from last year
· We are pursuing grants, direct mail and special fund raisers to help us bring down our debt load. We have a wonderful volunteer helping with this project
· Two volunteer interns, Tabitha Daniel and Rachael Slonaker, are helping us with graphic arts and public relations this summer.
· Somerset Alliance men have agreed to build our first cabin at the Teen Quest Ranch. Once this cabin is built we will challenge other churches to build identical cabins overlooking our lake.
· A company has agreed to donate a substantial amount of insulation for our buildings at the ranch.
· Local lumber companies have donated lumber helping us complete the lodge and the stable.
· Still trying to sell the property in Mt Pleasant (across from Jimmy Paul’s restaurant) we presently have a church renting from us on the first floor
· Motion was made to pursue a company in Somerset to plan the development of the new sewage treatment plant to be installed next spring. For the past three years we have had roadblocks keeping us from moving forward. We now have the green light to pursue this project.
· Motion was made to pursue a capital campaign called “Reclaiming the Land” to raise the much needed $150,000 to complete the bathrooms in the lodge and build the sewage treatment plant. We will promote this campaign through web sites, brochures, direct mail, our ministry teams, radio and special events.
. Motion was made to hold a fall Round Up at the Teen Quest Ranch Saturday October 1st for families and friends of Teen Quest.

I hope you had a great 4th of July!

We just finished up our second week of camp here at Teen Quest and it was awesome. Many students made decisions in their walk with Christ and they went back home changed.

Thank you for all your prayers and encouragement. Below I posted a few pix for everyone to look at. In the next week or so we should have all the pictures from this week on the main TeenQuest.org website.

MISSION TEAM ARRIVES FROM TENNESSEE

A mission team of forty students and their leaders arrived from Tennessee at the Teen Quest Ranch to have a part in reaching students for Christ.
The team spent the morning doing outreach ministry in Somerset and after lunch they stained the enitre outside of our Lodge. The Lodge is our main sleeping quarters for students and our meeting hall for evangelistic meetings. Teen Quest Ranch actitvities were opened for them to enjoy after the work was complete. They got to play paintball, ride horses, climb the rock wall, drive the go-carts, and boat in our lake. We thank them for their service for the kingdom.

Living Like A Zombie

It's kind of weird.

Camp I mean.

A few weeks ago I could have told you the current events. I knew the verdict of the Michael Jackson trial, the latest word from Iraq, and other recent happenings.

Now all that has changed. We are in full swing at camp this summer. It makes me feel kind of like a zombie – not really apart of the “real world.” I couldn't tell you what's happening in the world if my life depended on it. I have no clue who won the NBA championship or how the Pirate's are doing. I haven't seen a weather report in weeks!

But who cares – right? I mean what other job in the country allows you to spend massive amounts of time with hundreds of screaming – crazy – intense – and awesome teenagers?

This week we have several youth groups from Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. Last night TQ kicked off the camp season with a huge camp meeting rally. Our camp speaker Bobby Larew shared Christ with everyone and students were invited to make a decision to follow Jesus.

Right now as I’m writing this the entire camp is at the Alpine Slide just minutes away from the camp.

Keep us in prayer – I know we have teens here who don’t know Christ. Also keep checking this blog for more updates. We are taking the main camp picture tonight and I’ll put it on here ASAP.

SEWAGE PROJECT UPDATE

For three years we have been trying to expand our facility by setting up a sewage treatment plant. This plant will enable us to add bathroom to the ranch thus expanding our facility dramatically. We have had so many setbacks during this process from agricultural to archeological challenges.

Just received a call from our sewage engineer. The little stream below the little pond at the ranch has been pre-approved for the sewage treatment plant outflow. This is a major blessing. I will be meeting with our engineer this week to discuss the details of the project. This project will take till the end of the year to design. We should break ground by next spring.

Our next big challenge is to raise about $120,000 in funds to pay for this project.

This week our new summer camp staff is in training at the Teen Quest Ranch. Joel Glovier, Morgan Smith, Jeremy O, Mike Oliver, Kendra Cyphert, our full time staff and a host of high school students will head up our summer leadership team. God has given us a great team.

Please pray for a life changing summer as we win, build and send hundreds of students for Christ. Pray that each staff member will be able to raise their own personal support and meet the needs of each student they work with.

We have never been more excited about our summer program. More to come
